No IT-Investment

e-MDS is web-based. This means that the system can be accessed from all of your service locations. No IT infrastructure is required nor software to install.

e-MDS runs on any PC with a web browser that is connected to the internet, so unlike other electronic records systems, we provide  the firewalls, network equipment, servers and all of the supporting infrastructure (cooling, power, IT Technicians etc), so you don’t have to.

e-MDS is intuitive, has real-time validation, intelligent navigation, is resilient (i.e. you can’t ‘break’ it) and requires minimal training. Administration (e.g. password reset, user deletion etc) can easily be done in-house, whilst any major actions (e.g. service user record deletion) require an additional layer of authorisation.

What is more, it fits in with your existing operational processes, so the amount of business change required is minimal. This usually means that system users can be limited to existing administrative staff who will generally be comfortable with using web-based systems and spreadsheet software. This further reduces the training requirement.

For any record system, it is vitally important that the data entered is complete, accurate and up to date. e-MDS has a number of built-in tools to ensure that users are given as much assistance as possible to get the data entry right first time. These include wide-spread use of drop-down lists, real-time validation (for example NHS Number validation/duplication checks), alerts and reminders for specific events (e.g. MHA Section Expiry) and compulsory entries (e.g. you cannot save the page unless key data has been entered).

Our servers are hosted in state-of-the-art UK based data centres that are accredited for PCI compliance and ISO27001 (the Information and Security Management Standard). We’ve also attained a minimum of level 2 against all requirements of the NHS Information Governance Toolkit, so you can be assured that all of the organisational and technical controls are in place to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act. 

Flexible & Customisable

We recognise that each organisation is different and so e-MDS can be customised to fit in with your business processes.

No one system is going to meet all of your business requirements and these WILL change over time. Other systems often only offer ‘out-of-the-box’ functionality.  Any deviation either means you have to adapt your organisation, or invest time and costs to push through changes. e-MDS customers get their own dedicated version of the system that can be customised to use the specific terminology and provide the functionality they need.

From our perspective, by providing you with additional functionality, the system will keep adding value to our service offering and extends our on-going partnership. Any request for customisation of our service is therefore welcomed and mostly free of charge (only for major changes will we sit down and agree a cost towards the development).

It is a common complaint amongst the users of service user record systems that upgrades to comply with changes in the MHSDS or other data sets, have to be requested and are often too late to meet the submission deadlines. e-MDS will always be updated to cater for changes in NHS reporting requirements. This assurance is an integral part of our service offering. 

We are members of the MHSDS Technical User Group, which is run by the Health & Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC). We represent system providers and in many ways the independent sector when it comes to assessing the feasibility of implementing additional reporting requirements.  By virtue of having advance notice of impending changes we plan our updates accordingly and ensure that e-MDS users are always compliant when it comes to the latest templates.

Service

Software as a Service: More than just software.

Software as a Service offering has major benefits to our Customers. In addition to the automatic and on-going upgrades, the daily back-ups and the provision of all the IT-infrastructure, we provide helpdesk support and work with our customers to produce the timely submissions (e.g. NHS England Reports, LD-Census, MHSDS etc). We assist in reviewing the HSCIC data quality report, generate ad-hoc reports, help with data migration and imports or anything else that makes e-MDS as easy to use as possible. This also means that you can reduce the amount of time that your staff have to spend supporting the system.

In our view you are actually not interested in buying ‘software’. Instead, you want to procure the ‘capability and added value and compliance’ of what the software delivers to your organisation. Our long-standing Customers are proof that this is a successful formula.
